Sports Massage
Sports massage is a form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue to assist a person engaged in regular physical exercise. Soft tissue is connective tissue that has not hardened into bone and cartilage which includes skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. Sports massage is designed to assist in rectifying problems and imbalances in soft tissue that are caused from repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma. The application, prior to and after exercise, may help to enhance performance, aid recovery and prevent injury.
What is the difference between a deep tissue massage and a sports massage
A deep tissue massage can alleviate chronic muscle tension, relieve pain and improve mobility, ‘It aims to improve posture and promote relaxation and is recommended for individuals with chronic pain, muscle tension and injuries resulting from bad posture, repetitive injury and overuse.’
